Lee Belas International Scholarship Foundation

The Foundation

The Foundation was formed in 1991 following Lee's death in the Gulf War.  It was established as a tax exempt corporation by Port Orchard Rotary at the request of Lee's family.  Its purpose is to manage donations received in Lee's memory.

The volunteer seven-member Board of Directors meets twice yearly to administer the business of the Foundation and to award scholarships to District 5020 outbound exchange students.
 

Amounts awarded are based on financial need, as well as a history of community service and a determination to learn more about other cultures.  Budget for the annual awards depends on interest earned from Foundation investments.
